Dr. Abhay Nene, an alumnus of Jaihind College, passed out in 1989, and joined the T N Medical college, to graduate as a medical doctor, and later completed his post graduate training in Orthopedic Surgery. After many more years of training in the sub speciality of Spine Surgery, he currently practices as a Spine Surgeon attached to various hospitals in Bombay. He has many international publications and is actively involved in research as well as runs fellowships to train young spine surgeons. He is a keen academician and is currently the National Chairman of the respected AO Spine India organization.

Apart from this, Dr nene is a regular half marathon runner – having completed 20 half marathons all over the world, an avid cyclist – having cycled some of the world’s toughest routes including Manali to Leh, the Tour of the Nilgiris and recently a 60 hour nonstop relay cycle ride from New Delhi to Bombay, raising 1.7Cr for cancer children. He is an avid trekker, having scaled the Everest Base Camp, amongst many other… Abhay moonlights with a rock band – the Flunkies – as a back up vocalist and guitarist.
