About the test
  • Only for surveillance and not diagnosis
  • Serological tests detect antibodies present in the blood when the body is responding to a specific infection, like COVID-19. They detect the body's immune response to the infection caused by the virus rather than detecting the virus itself.
  • Positive antibody test is presumed to mean a person has been infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, at some point in the past and has recovered. It does not mean they are currently infected.
