Dr. Samir Kumta has been associated with Lilavati Hospital since 1998. He is a reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Surgeon with a special interest in Reconstructive Microsurgery.

He has overall experience of 31 years post MCh. He has handled over 5000 Plastic Surgeries & over 2500 microsurgical procedures.

Dr. Kumta has considerable specialized experience in microsurgery for all areas of the body and in all fields of surgery, such as emergency finger and limb replantations, free tissue transfers for complex head and neck reconstruction following tumour surgery, and limb reconstruction, and other such complex microvascular surgical procedures. Dr. Kumta has a large experience in the field of mandibular reconstruction using vascularised bone grafts like the fibula and iliac crest.

Dr. Kumta has conducted several workshops and lectured extensively on microvascular surgery in various parts of the country and has presented his work both in India and abroad. He is a prominent faculty member for the Microsurgery courses conducted by Ethicon at the Ethicon Institute of Surgical Education in Mumbai.

He is a Past President of the Indian Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery.

He was the Scientific Chairman for the prestigious 8th Biennial Congress of the World Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery to be held in Mumbai from 19th to 22nd March.
